Event Seating Made Easy with Color Blocking

Some of the most challenging aspects of planning a corporate affair or fundraiser have consistently been the seating and room layout arrangements. What’s the easiest way for your guests to find their seats? How can you minimize distractions and confusion? Color blocking, a technique that’s been making its way down fashion runways and appearing in many high profile weddings, is ideal for your event, and creates a simple, accurate room layout for table and seating arrangements.

Traditionally, event planners have used a consistent approach to manage room seating assignments, but this can occasionally cause uncertainty on the part of guests or attendees. Wouldn’t it be easier to use color to clearly communicate to your guests where, exactly, they need to be?

By using common room elements like tablecloths and centerpieces to break up in the room in contrasting, but complementary colors, you can ensure that your guests know precisely where they’re sitting. Color blocking eliminates confusion, and easily gets your guests to the right area of your room, whatever the size. Using color as a directional device isn’t the only way to show your event’s guests to their seat. You can even create a divider room to further assist them to their table.

The opportunities to use color as a directional tool at your event are almost endless. Think creatively about where you can incorporate color—the carpet, the ceiling swags, the linens, the seat cushions, the charger plates, even the glasses—any and all of the elements of your environment can perform a function, as well as communicate the right style, and bring energy to the event’s atmosphere. Help your guests or attendees find their color by placing that color sticker on their name badge, for instance—an easy trick that will further eliminate confusion.
