Wedding Table Linens
Through fabric blending techniques applied in the early 1970’s, Polyester was able to stay alive well into this decade. Quilted and patterned polyesters made their debut, revived with stretch finishing.

The Ring
The mood ring was introduced as a fashion statement in this era, but for wedding bands, ladies opted to wear rings with arched and alternating valleys of gold waves, lined with strips of diamonds. For men, rings crafted of braided gold or a woven chain of tri-color gold were popular.

The Attire
In the early 1970’s, the wedding dress came back to white, soft and light, crimped with gauze fabric and lined with rayon. Wedding fashion was very romantic with a medieval flair. Many brides opted for personalized looks of satin and lace, appointing a family member or mother of the bride to design and tailor the wedding gown. Shoes were square cut toe with a chunky heel. Dress fronts lifted for a peek of the shoe. The soft winged flip hairstyle, introduced by Farrah Fawcett in the film Charlie's Angels, became the must have style for brides. By the mid-seventies, Disco imposed its influence.  For the first time in history, polyester women's pant suits were accepted as stylish bridal wear.  Wedding gowns shifted from soft structured rayon to stretch polyester double knit. The film Saturday Night Fever built excitement for the fabric, by depicting it as sexy and fashion forward. As the 1970’s ended, society’s demand for designer labels was here. The trend of “who are you wearing” grew late in the 70’s and blossomed well into the label focused eighties generation.

Party Table Linens
Fondue and molded casseroles, set atop an avocado table linen at a neighborhood potluck dinner….can you dig it? Very hip party favorites were totally funky and slightly psychedelic linens loaded with mushrooms in bright, bold colors or tiny frogs and woodland creatures hidden in patches of flowers and autumn leaves.
